Aaron Rodgers underwent surgery on his torn Achilles eight weeks ago. But you’d never know it if you saw him walking Monday.
The Jets quarterback — who suffered the injury in Week 1 — has been determined to return this season in hopes of helping New York to a lengthy playoff run. Rodgers has been around the team since being cleared post-surgery, and has been seen throwing passes on the field and walking with a slight limp.
But the limp was noticeably gone Monday as Rodgers entered MetLife Stadium ahead of the Jets’ “Monday Night Football” game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The four-time MVP didn’t use the golf cart to get to the locker room, and was seen throwing more warmup passes ahead of kickoff.
There’s no timetable on Rodgers’ return and it’s unclear if he’ll actually make his way back to the field this season. He’s been making incredible strides throughout his recovery, telling “The Pat McAfee Show” that there’s been “nothing normal” about how he’s been attacking his rehab plan.
The Jets are in Zach Wilson’s hands now. And while many thought that meant 2023 was already over for the Jets, they’re 4-3 and second in the AFC East. The defense has been a big help in keeping the Jets afloat through their first seven games and has bailed them out at times. But it’s hard to count New York out when it continues to win games.
Whether Rodgers plays in another game this season remains to be seen, but it’s clear from the videos that he’s making progress every week and very well could become the fastest NFL player to return from a torn Achilles.
