OPINIONNottingham Forest have clear January transfer need amid Steve Cooper message
Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds dealt Taiwo Awoniyi injury blow ahead of Premier League return
During the promotion-winning season, Steve Cooper’s mantra of “next man up” when injuries struck became something of a call to arms for Nottingham Forest.
He didn’t use the same phrase when confirming the Reds will be without striker Taiwo Awoniyi for at least three months, but the sentiment is the same. In his pre-match press conference, Cooper talked about “fighting against setbacks” as his team looks to cope without their talisman for a significant period of time.
Awoniyi’s absence presents an opportunity for Chris Wood and Divock Origi. Both were sidelined themselves for a time when Awoniyi was out of action earlier this season, but they will now be fighting for the starting spot.
