Moses Moody finally got some playing time in the Golden State Warriors’ last two games. Now he’ll miss at least the next four with a strained calf.
Moody played over 20 minutes in each of the Warriors’ last two games, scoring 21 points in each contest while going 8-for-14 from three-point range. Of course, those opportunities came while the team was getting blown out, first by the Toronto Raptors and then the New Orleans Pelicans, who beat the Dubs by 36. Moody was only -7 in the Pelicans game, which meant the Warriors were outscored by 29 points in the 23 minutes he was on the bench.
But Moody also injured his calf in Wednesday’s game. Steve Kerr said he’d be getting an MRI, and it looks like the results weren’t encouraging.
Kerr hopes that Moody could return when the team returns the Chase Center in a week. But they’ll play four road games in six days before then, with a shorthanded roster that’s missing Moody for the road trip, Chris Paul for at least a month, Gary Payton II for at least two more weeks, and Draymond Green indefinitely. It’s the point in the season where the team’s official depth chart now lists “LOL” and “IDK” at the backup small forward spots.
Going into four road games, the Warriors have no choice but to confront eight of the scariest words of the 2023-24 season: “They will have to rely on Andrew Wiggins.” Get well soon, MM.
