Breaking News: Wolves Stars React to Shocking News from Club Headquarters
Wolves confirmed that Toti Gomes had signed a new contract at Molineux, keeping him at the club till 2029.
It’s news that has delighted the majority associated with the Wanderers as Toti has been magnificent throughout this season and the fruits of his labour have now been rewarded.
The 25-year-old’s integration into the starting XI under Gary O’Neil was the catalyst to help Wolves turn things around after a tricky start.
He earned a place in the lineup against Manchester City in September, as O’Neil changed his system to include wing-backs to accommodate his inclusion, and the Portuguese titan has never looked back, starting every Premier League game since.
After the news was announced on the club’s social media channels, Wolves players rushed to congratulate their teammate on Instagram.
Pedro Neto, who has been influential alongside Toti since his return from injury, said: “Franciiiiiiscooooooooo” with three heart eye emojis at the end.
Despite only featuring five times for Wolves this term, backup goalkeeper Dan Bentley was also pleased to see this news, writing “Deserved mate! Congratulations”.
Meanwhile, Jean Ricner-Bellegarde wrote: “Toootiiiiiii”, whereas defensive partner Max Kilman and midfielder Mario Lemina commented with fire emojis.
The outpour of support from his teammates signifies how pivotal Toti has been for Wolves this term and it’s refreshing to see such togetherness at the club after it was lost under previous managers.
Wolves may not have been able to invest in the January transfer window as FFP prevented them from bolstering their squad, but they are still planning for the future.
O’Neil has several highly saleable assets and their futures at Molineux must be secure. Hwang Hee-Chan signed a new contract till 2028 at the back end of last year and now the club are delivering more good news by giving Toti a long-term deal.
It means that if bigger clubs attempt to prise their best players, Wolves are secured by the fact their players are tied down long-term, which is music to the ears of supporters.
Neto is the main culprit for attracting huge interest from the likes of Arsenal and Wolves, but the club can hold out for a substantial fee as his contract still has three more years to run.
Forward planning achieves the best results, and the Wanderers benefit from knowing most of their players are drawn towards the long-term project.
