Baltimore Ravens Signs Michael Gallup On A Jaw Breaking Deal…
Dallas Cowboys Ex Michael Gallup Might Sign With Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens in NFL Free Agency.
Michael Gallup has had a flirtation with the Carolina Panthers and now his tour of post-Dallas Cowboys free agency will take him to Baltimore.
At one time, Gallup was given permission to seek his own trade, and predictably that did not work out. Then – as no team was going to take on Gallup’s $13 million APY contract – as first reported via a source by CowboysSI.com – the receiver was been cut as a post-June 1 designation.
The move saves the Cowboys $9.5 million in room this year. But … as always, the piper must be paid, so Gallup’s ill-advised contract – offered and signed despite him coming off his serious knee injury – will count $8.7 million in 2025.
That’s a bookkeeping issue now in Dallas. But for Gallup? He experienced a breakout year in his second season of 2019, with 66 receptions for 1,107 yards. … and now needs a rebound. He tore his ACL in 2021, and even with the injury Dallas gave him a five-year, $57.5 million contract – a move that did not work out.
The third-round draft pick from 2018 has experienced a drastic decline in production, as last season he had career-lows in yards (418) and touchdowns (two) and the second-fewest catches (34).
Gallup was to have a cap hit of $13.85 million for 2024. A trade didn’t actually provide much relief there for Dallas, anyway. … and now comes the possibility of joining a new team like the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens, a legit Super Bowl contender.
