Ex-Premier League Star&TNT Reporter Unfolds What Gave Brighton Victory Against Man Utd.
United suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, after a 95th-minute winner from Joao Pedro.
A lot of fans on social media blamed Diogo Dalot as the left-back was nowhere to be seen to prevent Pedro from getting a final touch on the ball.
However, former United defender Gary Neville took issue with Casemiro for being at fault in his post-match assessment.
Former Chelsea star turned pundit Joe Cole believes Manchester United are trying to push Antony out the door.
Antony came on in injury time and Cole wasn’t impressed by his contribution late on in the game. He even claimed United are trying to sell the Brazilian winger, two years after signing him for big money from Ajax.
“Manchester United brought on Antony who in all due respect, probably isn’t happy to just play 10 or 15 minutes,” Cole told TNT Sports, as quoted by CaughtOffside.
He’s an £80m player, he probably wants out the door at United and they probably want him out as well.
“You’re bringing him on and in that crucial moment when there’s a ball to be won, a body needs to be put on the line for your team and for your club, he didn’t do it and it cost his team.
“That’s the difference. If you look at the running the Brighton subs went through, it was fantastic.”
Cole is ignoring the fact Antony has never proven to be an £80m player and it is long known that United overspent to bring him to Old Trafford.
It’s also harsh to blame a player brought on in stoppage-time.
I don’t agree that this is a sign that United are pushing Antony out the door because they already known an offer is unlikely this summer.
Who wants him?
The 24-year-old has made 83 appearances for United and thus far has been nothing short of disappointing.
It’s not like Antony wants to leave United. There’s no way he would get the same salary – or anywhere close – at another European club.
