The Amazing Goalkeeper Is Set To Contribute In Norwich Success…..

Mads Hermansen selflessly pointed praise towards his team-mates after a remarkable save from the goalkeeper helped Leicester City to victory at Norwich City.

Protecting a one-goal lead at Carrow Road, courtesy of Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half penalty, the former Brøndby shot-stopper delivered one of the season’s best saves so far to deny Shane Duffy from close-range.

It ultimately laid the foundations for Kasey McAteer’s late second, nudging the Foxes to a sixth win in seven gamesEnzo Maresca’s men are second in the Sky Bet Championship, a single point adrift of early leaders Preston North End.

“I remember it was a tricky cross that came into the middle and he got high up in there, Duffy, and I made a good save so it was great,” Hermansen said at full-time. “We got a little bit passive in the second half.

“We dropped a bit too much and didn’t put the pressure in their half. It’s important for us to try not to concede [goals] and not so many chances as well like we did today.

“This is one of the best attacking sides in the league, especially at home, in the statistics. I think it was a very, very strong defensive performance from all the guys today.”

City have won all their games on the road this season, losing just once at home too, but that was only second league clean sheet of the campaign. It’s pleasing to get a shutout for Hermansen, although he says the points are what matter.

“Of course, it’s always nice to get clean sheets,” the 23-year-old Dane explained. “For me, the most important thing is to win. If we win 5-4, I’m more than happy, but of course clean sheets are always a boost for everybody.

“Especially as a goalkeeper, I really appreciate getting these clean sheets.”

Hermansen’s footballing ability has helped Leicester build a new style of play in 2023/24. Naturally, there will be times when playing out from the back doesn’t work, but the No.31 is pleased with how the new ethos is paying off.

“I’m quite clear in my head about what to do,” he added. “I’m quite clear if I’ve taken the right or wrong decision in the moment. We’re very good at analysing the games, me and the goalkeeper group in the squad. The most important thing is to believe in what we’re doing. I think we are improving every single day.”

The Foxes will be back at King Power Stadium on Saturday to face Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City following two significant away wins, also defeating Southampton 4-1 last Friday. Momentum is building for the seven-time second tier winners.

“Every game in this league is difficult,” Hermansen said. “[Norwich and Southampton] are two great clubs with great players in there. It could easily have been other results, but we have done very well, so I’m happy.”
