BBC REPORT: West Brom defender sent a worrying message to Sheffield Wednesday after a resounding victory….

Xisco Munoz’s side travel to the Hawthorns on Tuesday night still searching for their first Championship win of the season and reeling from back-to-back 3-0 defeats

West Brom defender Darnell Furlong has fired a warning shot to Sheffield Wednesday ahead of tomorrow night’s Championship clash. The Owls travel to the Midlands in dire form.

They sit bottom of the Championship and are the only team in the second tier yet to record a victory this season. Manager Xisco Munoz is under serious pressure having lost his last two games 3-0. On both occasions, against Swansea and then Sunderland, supporters called for the Spaniard to be relieved of his post.

In stark contrast Albion are upwardly-mobile and have lost just one of their last eight. At the weekend they pulled apart previously unbeaten Preston North End 4-0 away from home. Furlong opened the scoring and insists despite putting on their best showing of the season the players’ attentions post-match turned immediately to the visit of the Owls.

Speaking to the Baggies’ official website, the 27-year-old said: “We’ve just put in a great performance and won 4-0. And the first shout from all the boys (in the dressing room) is ‘get ready to go Tuesday’. Maybe it hasn’t come together perfectly with performances this season, but Saturday it did.

“We were delighted with the performance. I don’t think as a team we’ve been happy with our performances so far, in terms of how we’ve played.

“We have previously got points where we have needed to, but on Saturday it all came together. The performance, the goals, everything. It showed what we are capable of.

“We went to Preston and we knew the run they were on, the form they were in. They had done a brilliant job so far, but that didn’t change anything in terms of how we felt about the game. We went there knowing we could beat them, and that’s exactly what we did.”
