Defender Maxime Colin left Birmingham City this summer after six years with the club.
Colin was one of three players to join the Blues from Brentford in August 2017, along with Harlee Dean and Jota as part of a flurry of signings under Harry Redknapp.
The 31-year-old only worked with Redknapp for a few weeks after being sacked in September 2017 following a poor start to the season.
Despite the departure of his manager, Colin remained a regular starter and was Birmingham’s first-choice right-back for the most part.
about his time at St Andrew’s.
Despite scoring two goals and providing three assists in 48 appearances in all competitions last season, missing just two league matches, Colin left the club this summer..
Manager John Eustace insisted in April that he wanted to keep Colin at St Andrew’s, but the Frenchman confirmed his departure in an emotional message to supporters online society in July.
Colin wrote on Instagram: “After 6 years and 253 games with the club, it’s time for me to say goodbye.
“It wasn’t always easy, but I always gave my all for the blue shirt and wore it with great pride.
The entire club has shown resilience through difficult times and better days are to come
“A huge thank you to all the staff, players and everyone at Birmingham City for accompanying me on my journey through different seasons.
I am so grateful to have met the people that I can now call friends.
“And finally, thank you to the fans for allowing me to be part of this great club.
The city has welcomed me and my family from day one and I will always be grateful for their support.
that household.“
“I carry some great memories with me.
I wish the club the best for the future and I will always be a blue-nose.“
Colin scored seven goals in 253 appearances during his time at the club.
Colin returned to his native France with Metz in July, signing a two-year contract with the new Ligue 1 side.
Metz were relegated in 2021-22, but Laszlo Boloni guided them to an immediate return last term by finishing second in Ligue 2 behind Le Havre.
The defender started the club’s first three games but was substituted after 11 minutes in the 1-0 win at Clermont Foot last month and missed the 2-2 draw with Reims on Sunday.
After a 1-5 defeat to Rennes on the first match day, Metz has adapted well to life in Ligue 1 and is currently ranked 13th in the rankings after a 3-match unbeaten streak.
Colin is not the only player to move from the Championship to Stade Saint-Symphorien this summer, as strikers Oscar Estupinan and Benjamin Tetteh arrive from Hull City, while former Sunderland and Swansea City winger Joel Asoro also is on the club’s roster.
The defender hopes to quickly recover from injury and regain his place in the team to help Metz survive.
