Exclusive:Evans of Stevenage is a coach with high level mentality of winnings and has insisted his side can come out top

Boro took the lead at the Lamex Stadium after a quarter of an hour when James Reid got himself on the scoresheet. However, Stevenage’s lead didn’t last very long when Republic of Ireland international Sean Maguire equalised for the visitors just five minutes later.

Having struggled to break Carlisle down for the guts of the next hour, Reid eventually added a second and it looked as though Evans’ side were set to take all three points. That was until the 90th minute when Joe Garner headed in the leveller from a superb Owen Moxon corner to the back post.

According to the BBC, Paul Simpson’s men had four shots and two on target with 43 percent of the share of possession compared to Stevenage’s 16 shots, eight on target and 57 percent of the ball.

Stevenage have temporarily gone to the top of the table but head coach Evans is still bitterly disappointed with the result, having been merely minutes away from picking up all three points.

Speaking after the game, the experienced manager claimed that Stevenage’s opponents were deserving of nothing [quotes via News & Star]:

“We played very well today, [but] we gave away two of the worst goals that a team can concede, and a team deserving of nothing get a share of the spoils

Nevertheless, the word ‘undeserved’ is becoming cliched in football when a side don’t win. The game’s rules are simple: to win, you must outscore your opponents.
