Giovani Lo Celso, a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, is still questionable for the Sheffield United game after suffering an injury before the break.
That is according to The Evening Standard, which also mentions that Lo Celso might play again against Liverpool later this month
Lo Celso, who returned from a loan stint at Villarreal this season, has yet to make his Premier League debut under Ange Postecoglou.
The £27 million man impressed his new boss during pre-season as he netted twice in three friendlies.
The Argentine was given his first start of the season last month in the League Cup against Fulham but was forced to leave with an injury at the break.
And it appears that Lo Celso might not play in Saturday’s match between Tottenham and Sheffield United.
According to The Evening Standard, Lo Celso is still questionable for this weekend’s game against the Blades at home.
Lo Celso missed Tottenham’s trip to Turf Moor after getting hurt at Craven Cottage just a few days earlier.
Due to the setback with his injury, the 27-year-old also did not make Argentina’s most recent squad, but he was anticipated to make a comeback soon after the international break.
Although Lo Celso has yet to demonstrate for Spurs that he can perform in the Premier League, Postecoglou may use him in a significant capacity this year.
In fact, the midfielder may be the best choice to take Maddison’s place should the Englishman sustain an injury or require a break.
It is unclear whether Postecoglou could use both players in his system; the Australian prefers Pape Matar Sarr for the box-to-box position in midfield.
As Postecoglou attempts to integrate Lo Celso into the current squad, Spurs will be hoping to have him back as soon as possible.
