SAINTS players will now travel back to Staplewood for the return of club football after this month’s international break has drawn to a close.
In total 16 Southampton players from the senior and youth sides featured for their country during the September international window.
Here’s a rundown of what each player contributed to their national side this month…
While Southampton didn’t have any senior internationals in the England set up this month, they did have a number of players representing the Young Lions.
Deadline day loan signing Taylor Harwood-Bellis captained England’s Under-21 side as they got their European Championship qualification campaign underway with a 3-0 win in Luxembourg.
Sam Edozie was also a part of the squad for that win but remained as an unused substitute.
Also captaining England was loaned out striker Dom Ballard, who wore the armband for England’s Under-19s.
He skippered Simon Rusk’s side as they lost 1-0 to Germany before bouncing back with a 4-2 win over Switzerland, a game in which Ballard got on the scoresheet.
Both friendly fixtures were followed by a penalty shoot-out, which England lost on both occasions.
Also involved with the Under-19s was Kami Doyle, who started against Germany before coming on and scoring in the shoot-out against Switzerland.
Sam Amo-Ameyaw, Tyler Dibling and Jayden Meghoma were all involved in England’s Under-18s as they lost all three games against France, Portugal and Japan in the Limoges International Tournament
