The former Man City defender turned Sky Sports pundit has praised Scott McTominay as he backed him to move to West Ham in January.
The Manchester United midfielder is not a regular in Erik ten Hag’s side, but he is a useful option and I believe he will get chances to perform throughout the season.
There was talk of a potential move in the summer, but it doesn’t sound like United were made an appealing enough offer for the Scotland international’s signature.
West Ham should take note of that, if they decide to come knocking on the door for McTominay in January and Micah Richards thinks they will.
Richards views McTominay as an underrated player and can see him joining West Ham next.
“West Ham we said, it was West Ham,” Richards said on McTominay’s possible next move, on The Rest Is Football podcast, as quoted by CaughtOffside.
“I just think he’s a really intelligent, hard-working midfielder who can do a job whatever you tell him.
“It’s just the chaos of Manchester United or the player who they had in the past, so they are always comparing him to Keane and Scholes and it’s always going to be difficult.
“But there is a player in there, I think he’s fantastic.”
There is nobody at United saying McTominay isn’t a good player, but Richards is wrong if he doesn’t think he’s a bit on the limited side.
That said, I think McTominay could go to West Ham and prove to be a fine addition for David Moyes. They just didn’t make the right offer in the summer.
