A report from the Telegraph says Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will join Turkish side Caykur Rizespor today, amid reports this summer that Leeds wanted the England international.
Shelvey, 31, only joined Forest in January from Newcastle.
But after just eight games for Forest, Steve Cooper is ready to move on.
TeamTalk said both were at the center of the crisis last season.
This caused Shelvey to withdraw from the team at the end of last season and this time he did not play a single minute.
A report from TeamTalk says Leeds are considering recruiting the former Liverpool ace.
But now it seems he has left Türkiye.
Instead, Leeds have signed Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara in midfield, and SuperLig side Caykur Rizespor are set to sign the man of the jungle.
It is believed he will join them on loan.
Leeds never needed Shelvey.
Daniel Farke wants this Leeds team to play high-energy football and that’s not what Shelvey delivers – especially as he turns thirty.
A slow paced player.
It makes a good impression when Shelvey sits at the end of midfield and directs the wingers.
But that’s not how this Leeds team plays.
Ethan Ampadu has taken on the midfield role for Leeds.
While his passing may not be as good as Shelvey’s – but only slightly – Ampadu is much more mobile and much sharper defensively.
The Welsh star is a key factor of this Leeds team.
Shelvey will break that.
