Charlie Crew has joined Wales Under-21s during the international break after impressing for Leeds United’s Under-21s this season – and his Leeds team-mates have praised his recent form.
At just 17 years old, Crew seems to have cemented his place in the 21 team despite his young age.
Having played 10 times for the second series, this time he started all four matches and finished in three.
A truly impressive achievement considering his age, and Crew is clearly off to a good start.
But this is not limited to club level.
Wales recognized his form this term and promoted him himself.
Before this break, the Crew had only represented Wales Under-17s – albeit on 17 occasions.
He hasn’t even earned a place in the U19 squad.
But he was immediately promoted to number 21 for international matches in September.
The team started and finished the friendly defeating Licheinstein 4-0.
Wales next played their second European qualifier in 2025 – a 3-2 win over Lithuania.
Crew, a submarine arrived late.
He posted on Instagram.
The crew is some serious talent.
To be a regular starter at the age of 21 and to make it into the Wales U21 team is very impressive.
What are the Crew’s goals for the rest of the season?
A solid season with number 21, yes.
Standing in the second division and playing more than 25 matches with Michael Skubala’s team.
Probably will have to sit on the bench a few times towards the end of the season.
Ethan Ampadu and others are the top choices.
Also featured are Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, Archie Gray and Darko Gyabi.
There are many things waiting for him ahead.
But for now, the Crew can be proud of his achievement – and Kris Moore and Jeremiah Mullen were among those who congratulated him.
