Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler praised the supporters for the way they backed the team at Swindon Town at the weekend but is now focused on having a positive week ahead of this weekend’s match against AFC Wimbledon at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.
The Saddlers fell to a 2-0 defeat against the Robins at the County Ground and had to battle with 10-men after Tom Knowles was sent off in the second half. carry through from the game was the way the 641 Saddlers fans in the away end stuck with the team.
“I want to say thank you to all the supporters who came,” he said.
“I’m gutted we couldn’t give them an afternoon similar to the Salford game, there will be more of those moments throughout the season, I’m sure about that.
“It felt like it might be another one of them (on Saturday) but it gets taken away when the sending off happens so it was frustrating for them but I thank them for being there, as they have been the whole time.
“They sang loudly and proudly; I could hear them throughout and they stuck with us and I’ve banged on about that relentlessly.
“I’ve reiterated to the players that in this division, you will lose football matches but it’s about the next thing you do and the next thing that we do must be a positive action, have a really strong week in training.
“We’ve been off the back of a good run and we want to start another run and that’s our focus for this week.”
