Newcastle United were linked with a move for Lucas Paqueta prior to the Brazil international’s switch to West Ham in the summer of 2022. Following the recent rumours, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed the Magpies were ‘interested’ in a deal for Bruno Guimaraes’ former club team-mate in May, but their priority was on the signing of Sandro Tonali.

After Spanish outlet AS recently reported that Liverpool had a £100 million bid turned down for Bruno Guimaraes, former Reds’ full-back Glen Johnson believes it would be a deal that would suit all parties.

Asked if Liverpool should revisit the move next summer, he told GGRecon: “Absolutely because I really like him. He’s been a key player for Newcastle United and he’s got an awful lot about him, so I can understand why Liverpool would want to sign him because he’s proven himself already at this level. I think all parties would be happy if Liverpool could sign him for £100 million.”
