The Ghanaian international stressed he remained hopeful of fulfilling his dream of playing in the Premier League or another of Europe’s elite domestic competitions.

The speculation over the summer has seemingly not affected Paintstil, with the winger already registering three assists this season. The latest came in the victory at Union SG, as he teed up Andi Zeqiri to open the scoring in the 2-0 win.

It was a performance which led Johan Walckiers of Voetbalkrant to suggest holding on to Paintsil was Genk’s ‘most important’ piece of business over the summer window. The 25-year-old has the speed to ‘make the difference at any time’ for the Jupiler Pro League outfit.

Carlton Palmer feels Kenny McLean’s decision to extend his contract at Carrow Road is a ‘massive boost’ for Norwich City. Leeds United reportedly failed with three bids to sign the Scotland international in the recent window, and the midfielder has now committed to the Canaries with a new two-year deal.

Palmer told Football League World: “This is a massive boost for Norwich. Norwich are sat in fourth place in the league with four wins, one draw and one defeat, and they’re only three points behind the league leaders Preston. Kenny has signed a new two-year contract with the opinion of a further year.

“He’s been there, seen it, done it and achieved promotion twice with the club to the top flight – with one of those romping the Championship. So, as good as Norwich’s business was in the summer transfer window, getting Kenny to sign again is as good as all of those signings, considering the interest that Norwich had in him.”
