Lee Hendrie believes Crysencio Summerville was ‘excellent’ off the bench for Leeds United against Hull City.
Hendrie was speaking on Sky Sports News in the first half of Leeds‘ 0-0 draw at the MKM Stadium after Summerville forced goalkeeper Ryan Allsop into a great save.
Summerville was introduced from the bench around 20 minutes in after Wilfried Gnonto was unable to continue with what looked like an ankle injury.
The Dutchman was Leeds’ only real bright spark in attack following his introduction, drawing praise from Hendrie when he almost opened the scoring.
After receiving the ball on the left, Summerville drove in from the left, played a nice one-two with Georginio Rutter before letting fly first time.
Summerville’s effort looked destined for the top corner but unfortunately for Leeds, Allsop was on hand to turn it round the post.
He said: “It was a great bit of play by Summerville, who’s been excellent since he came on for Gnonto. He hits that volley as sweet as you like and it forces a big, strong hand from Ryan Allsop to push it wide. Leeds are certainly knocking on the door but Hull are really well organised.”
Summerville came off the bench in his favoured left wing position and looked really dangerous from the minute he came on.
Following Joe Rodon’s red card, Summerville was then moved over to the right to accommodate Jaidon Anthony and still looked like Leeds’ only real threat on the counter.
If Summerville can continue to produce more performances like that he will be the match-winner for Leeds on more occasions than not.
