The Inter Milan boss spoke highly of his team After a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in their opening Champions League match…..

Simone Inzaghi’s thoughts after Inter’s 1-1 draw away to Real Sociedad in their Champions League opener

“We were up against a quality side and really had to dig in during the first half, but we did well to stay in the game and find an equaliser. It was our first Champions League fixture and we’ll take this point. We touched on the fact that Real Sociedad are an excellent team. The lads are playing a lot, and many of them played for their countries recently. Nevertheless, we did well to stay in it and are also grateful to Sommer, who played his part. We then finished the last 20 minutes really strongly. We saw how we need everyone in these matches, and I’ll make changes because we’ll be playing a lot of games. Well done to the lads, who stuck at it in what was a very complicated match.”

Today’s edition of Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) writes that 2026 should be the decisive year to understand who will win the stadium derby between Inter and Milan, with each having the objective of having a stadium reading for the 2032 European Championship.

The two clubs are carrying out two separate projects now after initially launching a joint one, with the Rossoneri aiming to build in San Donato and the Nerazzurri in Rozzano.

The Council of San Donato awaits the next formal steps from Milan to go into detail about the project and news to this effect could arrive soon. Milan has also already started to commission some studies on the traffic conditions in the area.

This new 70,000-seater stadium could also be a venue for the European Championship in 2032. The Rossoneri have already made it known that it wants to host some games for the tournament at their new home, but the decision is up to the FIGC with a deadline of October 2026 set.

The same applies to Inter, who are also expected to take further steps towards the construction of their new home in Rozzano, the area identified as confirmed by last week’s meeting between CEO Alessandro Antonello and the mayor of the area.
