Everton winger Dwight McNeil sent a five-word text message to Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his goal against Brentford.
The striker scored his club’s third and final goal in their 3-1 Premier League win over the Bees on Saturday (September 23).
His appearance came just eight minutes after he came on as a summer replacement for striker Beto.
Sharing a video of McNeil celebrating before Calvert-Lewin put the ball in the net, Everton posted on Instagram:
“Dwight knows that.
The winger then shared the video on his own Instagram, tagging Calvert-Lewin and writing the message:
“I never had any doubts, big guy.
The fact that McNeil celebrated his goal so well before he came on spoke volumes about Calvert-Lewin’s finishing ability, with him knowing there would only be one outcome when the latter won the ball.
It was a beautiful pass from James Garner, and Calvert-Lewin made no mistake in scoring the goal.
The goal sent Everton’s traveling fans into a frenzy, fans must be patient with such moments this season.
But that will give them and Calvert-Lewin good confidence, which was very low at Goodison Park at the start of the season.
The striker will now look to build momentum from this point in west London to hopefully find the net more times in the coming months.
With physical problems, he may not start the next match, but this striker will still be happy to continue scoring goals when he comes on as a substitute.
