BBC repor AFC Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson vowed to turn things around after the heavy defeat

PHIL PARKINSON got the response he wanted the last time Wrexham conceded five goals in a match and he expects a similar reaction from his players after Saturday’s defeat at Stockport County .
League Two’s seven-match unbeaten run ended abruptly when the Red Devils were beaten 5-0 by Dave Challinor’s side at Edgeley Park.
Poor defending left Wrexham three goals behind at the break and the Hatters scored a fourth goal early in the second half before completing the scoring in stoppage time.
This is the third time in nine matches that the Red Devils have scored five goals, the last time coming on August 19 when Parkinson’s side staged a stunning comeback to draw 5-5 with Swindon Town at STóK Cae Ras.

Wrexham have scored just two goals in their next four matches, keeping two clean sheets and Parkinson said the Red Devils will work hard on the training ground this week to tighten things up at the back ahead of the clash.

“Of course we had to work on some things,” Parkinson said.
“We changed the team dynamic a bit after the Swindon game and it worked.
“We need to look at the team and see why we conceded goals.
“Sometimes if you don’t have the ball well but you’re a strong team and you go into half-time and it’s 0-0 or 1-0, you can put things right.
“But being 3-0 up is obviously a mountain to climb.
“We are in a strong position with our recent performances.
We now need to look at why it didn’t go well and we will do so, and address the issue.

Wrexham suffered only their second defeat of the season and their first since losing 5-3 to MK Dons on matchday one.
“We worked hard,” Parkinson added.
“We didn’t have a good start but since the first game we’ve been unbeaten and the players have been excellent.
“We had a lot of great times in the dressing room, before and after games and went into training feeling really confident.
“It was one of those days where we had to take medicine as a group.
“It was all the staff and all the players because we came second.
