Nottingham Forest should have paid a pretty penny to sign Dean Henderson this summer.
The Reds have been trying to sign a permanent deal for the man who spent last season on loan at the City Ground.
According to The Athletic, Henderson is currently Crystal Palace’s highest paid player.
He moved to Selhurst Park on a long-term contract for a fee of £15 million which could rise to £20 million.
Last night, the goalkeeper’s comeback ended in disaster.
He suffered a recurrence of his thigh injury which interrupted his loan spell at Forest in January.
Forest should have paid Henderson more
The latest reports have explained how much Henderson currently earns at Palace.
Forest have tried several times to sign the goalkeeper, but they want a deal on their terms.
The Red Devils have serious reservations about his thigh problem.
Forest want Henderson to undergo a rigorous medical and United are unwilling to grant that.
It was claimed that those behind the scenes were genuinely unsure about Henderson following his injury.
As a result, they chose to sign Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos instead.
It is claimed that Henderson earns a staggering £100,000 a week at Palace.
He is currently the highest paid player at the club and Forest should be paying the same amount.
Instead, the club did what they had not done in the past and demonstrated a shrewd approach.
Both Turner and Vlachodimos are very capable and this is a refreshing change from Forest’s perspective.
Henderson really internalized Forest’s philosophy last season.
However, the club had to do what they thought was right and since they have now suffered defeat, they may have made the right choice this summer.
