The Red Devils advanced through to the next round of the Carabao Cup where they will face Newcastle United after the Geordie side knocked out Manchester City last night.
In a repeat of last season’s final, the pair will face off looking to make it to the quarter-finals of the competition.
United, meanwhile, face Palace again this Saturday as they look to build on Tuesday’s superb performance.
Palace were fielding a rather weakened team during the game at Old Trafford on Tuesday and could be set to do something similar against United on Saturday.
Speaking after the game, Hodgson has admitted that he may well need to field a similar eleven as the injury issues continue for Palace.
“We don’t have a lot of changes we can possibly make. We are facing a similar scenario, potentially, that we faced tonight,” the Palace boss admitted to the Crystal Palace website.
“We don’t have a number of people available that can make such a vast difference to our own team.
This would be a welcomed boost for United who are in dire need of a victory to continue their mini revival after a dismal start to a season that promised so much.
The Red Devils have seemingly weathered the storm of their early season injury issues with Sofyan Amrabat, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane all back in the side for the game against Hodgson’s side this Saturday after featuring on Tuesday night.
A win would propel Manchester United up towards the top four of the division, which would be a brilliant recovery after Erik ten Hag’s side were stuck near the bottom half of the Premier League table after an indifferent start to the season.
United have a favourable run of fixtures coming up and will be looking to put in a similar display that they did on Tuesday night and continue this good run of form.
