Long-term target Che Adams gives his honest verdict on Leeds United
Leeds United travel south to take on Southampton on Saturday lunchtime as the two relegated sides go face to face in the ninth round of Championship games – and Che Adams has given his verdict on Leeds.
Daniel Farke’s side come into the game having remained unbeaten in their last six Championship games – winning three and drawing four of our eight so far. Those 13 points see Leeds sit in a solid sixth place.
There is a feel-good factor at Leeds. Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe, Ethan Ampadu, Cree Summerville and plenty of other Leeds players are in really good form. A nice change, from the struggles of the top tier.
Southampton were also relegated but of late, they have not found the going easy. Four straight League losses, including a 5-0 defeat to Sunderland and a 4-1 loss to the other relegated side, Leicester City.
So, contrasting fortunes for Leeds and Southampton going into Saturday’s game. But there’s easily a chance that Leeds struggle if they are not on it. Adams – a long-term Leeds target – gave his verdict.
“It has been difficult suffering a few heavy defeats”, Adams told the BBC. “We have handled it well. Positives to build on. the Middlesbrough game and the Ipswich game we should have taken a point.
“We are just sticking with it because it is going to be a long, long season. We still have got big teams to play. There’s no better team to play against [than Leeds] on home turf on Saturday,” Adams continued.
Leeds come into this game as probably favourites. Despite playing away from home, Leeds will rely on the form they bring into this game – and Daniel Farke seems to be getting everything right, so far.
For Russell Martin, the pressure is on already. While it is early and a Premier League hangover always likely, Southampton need to claw it around soon – for Martin’s sake. But surely, we should win this.
