Manchester City youngster Callum Doyle, currently on loan at Leicester, is at risk of being out of action for up to 4 months due to injury.
Leicester City coach Enzo Maresca confirmed that Callum Doyle, a player on loan from Manchester City, will be sidelined for four months due to injury.
The 19-year-old, who joined the Foxes on a season-long loan deal in the summer, was substituted in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Bristol City at the King Power Stadium, leaving him was unable to compete in the Carabao Cup in the middle of last week.
Liverpool at Anfield.
The champions were defeated 3-1 despite taking an early lead.
Doyle has been a key part of the Midlands squad so far this season, meaning his extended layoff has deprived Maresca of his role as a key player.
Although he played as a centre-back, he occupied the left-back position at the King Power Stadium.
And with Leicester lacking left-footed options in their backfield, their defeat is a blow to the Championship’s promotion hopes.
Although the Foxes have not confirmed details of his injury, Maresca said he could be sidelined for up to 16 weeks.
“He’s the only one, so it’s really unlucky.
We have a lot of [right-handed] players, but in this position he is the only one.
“That’s the way it is, so we’ll try to find a solution.
Against Liverpool and Bristol City, JJ [James Justin] played very well.
Doyle, who will remain at Leicester during his recovery, joined the club from the King Power Stadium in the summer with ambitions of adding a first Championship promotion to his CV.
He helped Coventry City reach the Championship play-off final last season, only to lose to Luton Town on penalties at Wembley.
