BBC report: West brom talented star took to instagram to celebrate their 4 0 win over preston in the championship on saturday…

Matt Phillips took to Instagram to celebrate West Brom winning 4-0 away at Preston in the Championship on Saturday.

Phillips, 32, scored the Albion’s third goal at Deepdale, his 30th for the club since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2016.

On Instagram on 30 September, Phillips shared an image of himself celebrating in rain-soaked Lancashire, saying: “+3 and a goal! Well done, team!”

Grady Diangana and Darnell Furlong, who also scored in the rout, replied to Phillips’ message while Karlan Grant, who’s currently on loan at Cardiff City, messaged the Baggies’ longest-serving player with two heart emojis.

Phillips’ form this season has been terrific.

Although he’s got a reputation among Albion fans of being made from glass and failing to step up when it really matters, there’s no arguing that he’s been one of the best players for Carlos Corberan in the opening weeks of the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

Corberan has been forced to play Phillips in multiple positions with the 16-times Scotland international filling in on both wings, at wing-back and even as a striker.

In his nine Championship appearances this season, Phillips has scored two goals and supplied one assist, with his performance against Preston arguably his best.

It was probably West Brom’s best performance of the season too, especially when considering that Preston were unbeaten before they hosted the Baggies at Deepdale.

Next up for Corberan’s men is a home clash against struggling Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night (3 October).

It may seem easy on paper but games like this are usually banana skins for the Baggies so hopefully, Corberan can snuff any complacency out of his side in time for that one.
