Joe Hodge will return to captain the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team for the upcoming European Championship qualifier against Latvia in Riga.

He joined Blackburn Rovers loanee Andy Moran, who captained matches at Turner’s Cross, in the engine room.
QPR’s Sinclair Armstrong is in the group of strong strikers after causing Ireland to bow out in a 2-1 loss to the Netherlands last month.
Armstrong Oko-Flex, who left West Ham United for FC Zurich in the summer, has been called up to join Millwall’s Aidomo Emakhu and Shamrock Rovers’ Johnny Kenny.
And Crewe Alexandra defender Connor O’Riordan has rejected offers from Scotland to stay with the Irish squad.
O’Riordan, who made his debut against Kuwait, was initially named in Scot Gemmill’s Scotland Under-21 squad before informing manager Jim Crawford of his intention to stay in Ireland.
“It’s great to have Joe Hodge back with us, he’s our captain and he’s an important player for us,” big boss Crawford said.
“It has been great to see Armstrong Oko-Flex and Connor O’Riordan impress for their clubs in recent weeks and earn a place in the squad.
