In recent weeks, some have seriously doubted Kilman as the choice for Wolves captain.
But Keen offered some insight about himself when speaking to the media.
He say:
“As for Max, he was very good when we spoke to him after the (City) game.
These are the things I talk about when we talk about him as captain.
The captain, whether good or bad, must appear at the right time and speak.
“Last season, in the 6-0 loss to Brighton, Neves refused.
He talked on the radio, but not to me.
And some other people don’t want to do it.
Max Kilman came to talk to me and took responsibility for this absolutely terrible performance.
He deserves major credit for that.
“I thought he really said it very, very well (Saturday).
I was very impressed.
Even if there was no question about Gary O’Neil, he was still talking about Gary O’Neil.
It was really an “I want to support him” (message).
Fair play to him.

Keen added that there were a number of Wolves players who were disappointed not to be speaking to the media but did not name them.
It’s nice to hear praise like this for Kilman and he deserves credit for being willing to talk about anything that might happen during a game.
A captain has to be ready to talk no matter what and Kilman seems that way.

Kilman is quite a different captain to Conor Coady and Ruben Neves.

On the pitch, he does not appear as dominant or loud. Certainly in comparison to Coady.

But Kilman is clearly a good leader and he is highly respected but his teammates – his interview at the weekend was very good indeed.
