Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Marcos Acuna could be available for transfer in January
Marcos Acuna is hopeful that he will be allowed to depart Sevilla in January amid Aston Villa’s interest, it has been claimed.
The Argentine was heavily linked with a move to Villa Park in the summer as the club looked for a replacement for Alex Moreno who had suffered a hamstring injury. However, Villa were reportedly reluctant to pay his €15million (£13m) fee.
Acuna was said to be “very disappointed” that a move didn’t materialise despite the player reportedly having an agreement with Villa, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla. They now claim that the 31-year-old’s plan after returning from injury is to attract more interest from clubs once the window reopens in January.
Sevilla, meanwhile, are said to be open to the idea of a move to alleviate their financial books. Acuna still has another two years left on his contract.
But whether Villa reignite their interest for the left-back again, it remains to be seen. Lucas Digne has been a standout performer this season for Unai Emery.
