Wolves are set to face Aston Villa on Sunday in a game which Steve Bull says holds massive ‘bragging rights’ for fans.
Coming off a huge 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Molineux, Gary O’Neil will have his sights set on another win this time in a derby game.
Meanwhile Unai Emery’s side come into the game after a 6-1 thrashing of Brighton last week.
A win for Wolves could see them move up as high as tenth, if results go their way.
Writing on Express and Star, Wolves legend Steve Bull has emphasised the importance of picking up three points.
Bull is Wolves’ club record goal scorer and club legend, and he has sent a written message to the team ahead of Sundays game.
“Focus on the football and if we put in a similar performance to the one against Man City, we should come away with the three points.
“But it will be tough! Villa are riding on the crest of a wave at the moment, they’re flying, and we’ll probably be underdogs.
“The players need to be up for it. In my day, with local players in the side, it was more of a local derby but these days it is more about bragging rights for fans.
“The derby has gone out of the window and for the team, it is all about their position in the league and picking up three points.”
Continuing with his message, Gary O’Neil was also sent a message of support.
“Gary O’Neil is still learning about his Wolves side, the culture and what the fans are like. He stamped his authority by beating Man City and everyone now knows what he can do.”
Following this he added his view on the way Wolves should line-up against Villa.
“If it’s not broken, don’t change it, and I’d keep the same starting XI and formation against Villa as Wolves had against City.
“They were all on the same page, were solid defensively and absolutely scary going forward, so I can’t see any reason to change it.”
