While There Were Hopes That Real Madrid Star David Alaba Would Return In Time For Tomorrow’s La Liga Match Against CA Osasuna, That Appears Unlikely.
Alaba picked up an injury during Los Blancos’ league clash against Las Palmas last week and has since gone on to miss two matches already versus Girona and Napoli.
national had been pushing hard to make a return for Saturday’s game against Osasuna and had even participated in a few training sessions.
However, as per the latest update from journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, Alaba will not be able to make it for the game against Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
The Austrian international was not seen in training with the team today and as such he is expected to miss out of tomorrow’s clash against Jagoba Arrasate’s side.
With Alaba pretty much certain to miss out and Nacho unavailable due to suspension, Ferland Mendy could be slotted in as an emergency centre-back alongside Antonio Rudiger tomorrow.
The report further states that Alaba will now be withdrawn from the Austrian national team squad for the upcoming international break.
The versatile defender was named on the squad list for Austria’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Belgium and Azerbaijan, but is now likely to be dropped.
As such, the plan is for him to return to action against Sevilla soon after the international break. Minutes against Sevilla and SC Braga could help him return to peak fitness in time for the Clasico vs Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Arda Guler is also expected to return after the international break, with the youngster having resumed training on the grass, albeit by himself.
Real Madrid boast of a midfield squad that would be any manager’s dream. The ideal balance of youngsters and veterans gives Carlo Ancelotti flexibility in his plans and has been one of the driving forces behind Los Blancos’ strong start to the 2023-24 campaign.
While one would assume that Jude Bellingham was the final piece in the puzzle, Real Madrid continues to monitor the market for possible reinforcements. Bruno Guimaraes was rumoured to be one such prime option.
