The Brighton star has apparently attracted a lot of interest over the last year, with Manchester City one of the clubs to be linked with a move for the 26-year-old
Brighton star Kaoru Mitoma has reportedly agreed a new contract with the Seagulls despite apparent interest from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola brought in Jeremy Doku this summer to fill the gap left by Riyad Mahrez. The £55m arrival of the Belgian prompted Cole Palmer to leave for Chelsea on deadline day.
The treble winners have ample cover in the wing areas with Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and rising youngster Oscar Bobb able to play from the flanks as well as Doku. The 21-year-old has had a promising start to his City career, scoring twice and assisting once in his seven games so far. Mitoma has also carried his impressive form for Brighton into this campaign.
The Japan international has amassed three goals and four assists in his opening 10 matches, prompting speculation about a move away. The Daily Star claimed City were one of those interested in the attacker but London World claims the 26-year-old is about to pen a new long-term deal at Brighton.
The report claims Mitoma had turned down approaches from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United over the summer but it seems any potential switch to City in the near future is also off the table.
Meanwhile, the Blues have been linked to Schalke teenager Assan Ouedraogo. The 17-year-old has broken into the first-team at the second-tier German club, scoring on his debut against Hamburg and making seven further appearances.
He became the youngest player in the club’s history to make his senior bow and score a senior goal in the season’s opener. A report from 90min claims City will have to rival Chelsea and Newcastle for his signature with Atletico Madrid and Valencia also keen.
