Paris Saint-Germain were in the market for a striker this past summer transfer window. The French giants were reportedly in on several players, including Marcus Thuram.
Thuram was a free agent during the summer after his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach expired. PSG had already explored the free agent market with the additions of Milan Škriniar and Marco Asensio. As a result, Thuram’s pursuit made sense.
However, the 26-year-old decided to join Inter Milan instead. In an interview with L’Equipe, the French media outlet asked whether he regrets not joining PSG after the arrival of Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani this summer.
“When you saw Kolo Muani and Dembélé arrive at PSG, did you have any regrets? No, if I want to see them, I go on vacation with them. I’m not going to define a career choice based on my friends.”
PSG wants to add top French talent, such as Thuram, to this new project under manager Luis Enrique. Nonetheless, not every Frenchman will want to return to Paris as they could prefer to carve out their career abroad.
Still, the Ligue 1 giants need to be in on these French players even if, on occasion, they’ll miss. This past summer, the capital club added Lucas Hernandez and Bradley Barcola to accompany Dembélé and Kolo Muani.
