On Sunday, Sevilla announced head coach José Luis Mendilibar had been sacked after a disappointing start to the season.
The 62-year-old signed a contract extension this summer after leading Los Nervionenses to their seventh Europa League title last season, but has now been let go.
Attention now turns to finding a replacement for Mendilibar.
Sevilla hope to have someone in by the end of the international break, after which they will face Real Madrid at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
Since Mendilibar was sacked, several names have been mentioned.
Andoni Iraola is one of them, although Estadio Deportivo say he will not join unless he is sacked by AFC Bournemouth in the very near future.
Another person who is very unlikely to take over is Marcelo Gallardo, who still wants to remain unemployed after leaving River Plate.
The report says Javi Gracia is one of the early favorites for the position.
The former Valencia head coach is unemployed after leaving Leeds United last season, a role given to him by Victor Orta, currently Sevilla’s sporting director
In this sense, it would not be surprising if Gracia is appointed, although Sevilla will ensure that whoever comes in is the right person to take him forward.
