Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has sent a two-word message to Eden Hazard after he announced his retirement from football.
During that time, the winger won two Premier League titles with Chelsea, as well as two La Liga titles with Real Madrid.
Taking to social media to announce his retirement, Hazard posted on Instagram: “After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.
“I was able to realise my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world. During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates – thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all.”
Among those commenting on the post was his former Belgium teammate and Toffees midfielder Onana, who wrote: “Legend.”
Everton ace Amadou is not wrong when calling his compatriot a legend, with Hazard one of the best players to ever grace a football pitch.
His long, long honours list, including the aforementioned league titles, also includes a Champions League with Real Madrid, his most recent club.
It certainly did not work out for the player in Spain, but he will still go down in football folklore, largely due to his displays for Chelsea and indeed for the Belgium national team.
The winger set the Premier League alight during his seven seasons in West London, with even the most talented defenders struggling massively to deal with his pace and trickery.
Hazard scored some unforgettable goals for the Blues, and won countless individual honours for his performances there, along with the team awards.
The 32-year-old can now relax after a long and successful career, which began in France with Lille, where he won a league and cup double.
