Brandon Williams was seemingly told he had no future at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag and a move was put in place for the Englishman, who can play at right-back or left-back.

Well, the 23-year-old scored an outstanding individual goal during Ipswich’s victory over Preston and Williams looks as confident as ever.

Speaking to the BBC, the former United coach was full of praise for Williams but has also highlighted how the English defender can improve.

“He probably still says he prefers to play left-back,” McKenna said. “I’ve always said to him, and that was part of him coming here, that I think he should develop himself on both sides.

“He’s still very young and I don’t think it’s good to be always pigeonholed as a right-footed left-back because there’s probably some good teams you could exclude yourself from if they explicitly want a left-footer, so it’s great to have that versatility, to be able to play on both sides.”

The English defender is perhaps frustrated about the situation at Old Trafford and the lack of game time he received after his fantastic breakthrough under Solskjaer in 2019-2020.

Well, the current injury issues might have meant that the full-back would have finally received the game time under Ten Hag that he has been looking for.

Whether it’s at right-back or left-back, Williams has done well for McKenna and Ipswich and you wonder what the future holds for the Englishman if he carries on performing at the level that he currently has been.
