Leeds United are in talks over contract extensions for both Nick Hammond and Gary Penrice.
That is according to Phil Hay of the Athletic, who reports Leeds were so pleased with the work of both Hammond and Penrice during the summer, they are now willing to offer them both new deals.
Should these be agreed, it would see Hammond and Penrice remain at Elland Road for the next two transfer windows, both of which look set to be vital again.
Leeds were tasked with facing arguably their most difficult summer since they were last relegated from the Premier League in 2004 with so much work to do from top to bottom.
Once San Francisco 49ers Enterprises takeover was done, and Daniel Farke was appointed, Hammond was able to get to work on moving several players on, including the majority of last season’s squad.
Hammond brought in Celtic’s former head of recruitment Penrice to help with the complicated process of moving players in and out.
With both of their efforts having been valued highly by the club, they could now be handed deals that enable them to oversee January, and next summer.
As Leeds push for promotion, January could be another vital window for Leeds to get that little boost to the squad they need to get over the line.
Regardless of the division Leeds are in, next summer will be crucial, too, as all of the loan players return to Elland Road once again with their futures in need of clarity.
With the experience Hammond and Penrice gained from this summer, it would make sense to keep them on for the time being.
