Wes Burns will return to Ipswich Town after picking up an injury on international duty for Wales.
The winger started alongside Blues teammate Nathan Broadhead in yesterday’s 4-0 win against Gibraltar, but he was withdrawn in the 15th minute after injuring his shoulder while challenging for the ball.
Burns landed awkwardly and had to receive treatment on the pitch before using his shirt as a sling as he was brought off. He won’t feature in Sunday’s EURO 2024 qualifying match against Croatia, and is instead set to return to Suffolk for further assessment.
It remains to be seen as to how significant the injury is, but Town boss Kieran McKenna will be sweating on his fitness ahead of another busy run of fixtures, starting with a trip to Rotherham United next Friday.
Wes Burns has returned to his club for further medical assessment.
Joe Low and Charlie Savage will not join up with the U21s and have stayed with the senior team.
