Ipswich Town’s Wes Burns has picked up an injury in Wales’ friendly clash against Gibraltar.
The winger, who started the match with Blues teammate Nathan Broahead, challenged Ethan Britto for the ball. He ended up landing awkwardly on his shoulder and received treatment on the pitch before being substituted for Daniel James in the 15th minute
Burns looked in significant discomfort as he was brought off, using his shirt as a sling to support his arm. The 28-year-old also picked up a hamstring injury in his last international appearance for the Dragons, a goalless draw against South Korea, although he was fine to return for Ipswich after the September international break.
Rob Page’s side are 4-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Broadhead and Ben Davies, as well as a brace from Kieffer Moore. Broadhead also provided an assist for the opening goal
Thankful the Tractor Boys have the depth in their squad to manage if Burns is cast to the sidelines for a spell. Regardless of that though, his absence will be a blow.
Now, all the club can do is wait for the result of their tests before planning on the best way to move forward.
In his absence, the likes of Omari Hutchinson and Marcus Harness could battle for a starting spot. Kayden Jackson, though naturally a striker, is another option on the right-hand side if Burns is forced out.
