La Liga giants Sevilla have appointed former Uruguay coach Diego Alonso amid links to Rangers rivals Oliver Glasner.
The Spanish outfit have moved to appoint Diego Alonso until the end of the season following the sacking of Jose Luis Mendilibar over the weekend.
According to reports, Oliver Glasner is interested in the job of Rangers manager although there is some confusion as to whether or not the Ibrox side have reached out.
The Daily Record claimed earlier in the week that Rangers had yet to speak to Oliver Glasner whilst more recently Sky Sports have suggested the ex-Eintracht Frankfurt boss is in the running.
Rangers are coming to the end of the interview process in their hunt for a new manager with the club now nearing two weeks since the sacking of Michael Beale.
Whilst Oliver Glasner is a name which has been repeatedly mentioned in the press, the Austrian coach is not the current frontrunner for the post.
Belgian manager Philippe Clement has been the name most prominently mentioned alongside the role with Australian coach Kevin Muscat another strong contender.
Rangers are clear that there has been a rigorous selection process for the manager’s job and fans can be assured that whoever comes into the gig will be considered the best man for the role.
