BBC Report: Tottenham Hotspur will risk losing five players on a free transfer in 2024…

Ange Postecoglou was backed by the Daniel Levy in the summer as he led a rebuild, signing 7 players including Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Micky van de Ven, Ashley Phillips, Brennan Johnson, and Alejo Veliz.

The loan deals of Pedro Porro and Dejan Kulusevski were also made permanent.

Late in the transfer window Spurs managed to get rid of some of the deadwoods including Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon, and Tanguy Ndombele. Among other outgoings included Harry Kane, Joe Rodon, and Djed Spence.

The club did fail to get rid of Hugo Lloris despite the player stating his desire to leave the club very explicitly. The club too wanted to move him but could not agree a deal for him with any club before the deadline day.

Unless Spurs are able to strike a deal for him in January, he will be free to leave in the summer.

Another goalkeeper who is going to a free agent next summer is Fraser Forster. He is back to being the second choice keeper this season behind new signing Guglielmo Vicario who has been excellent since coming in.

He joined Spurs on a two year deal in 2022 and will be free to leave in the summer unless Spurs offer him a contract extension.

The report also mentions Brandon Austin as another keeper who could potentially leave on a free next summer.

Like Hugo, Eric Dier is another player Spurs reportedly wanted to move in the summer but failed to agree a deal for him as the player was keen on staying.

He is not in Ange’s plans and has failed to start any of the games this season.

It seems like the long serving Spur will prefer to see out his contract to have his options open next summer.

And finally, Ivan Perisic, another experienced player at Tottenham who looks set to be leaving soon. He was enjoying a terrific start to the campaign under Ange Postecoglou before an unfortunate injury which will now see him out for at least 6, 7 months.

It is possible that he may have played his final game for Spurs. He is being strongly linked with a move to Croatian club Hajduk Spit but that may not happen in January due to his injury. But a free move in the summer is still on the cards.
