JUST NOW: Brendan Rodgers take Celtic centre stage as he presents St Roch`s trophy after they down Parkhead veterans…

A Celtic team that featured Neil Lennon and Scott McDonald were beaten 2-0 by West of Scotland side St Roch’s in front of a sold out Jimmy McGrory Park.

Brendan Rodgers was on hand to present St Roch’s with their trophy after the West of Scotland side downed a Celtic select to win their centenary match.

The non-league side have long-established historical links with Celtic, playing their home games at James McGrory Park – named after the late Jimmy McGrory who made his debut for St Roch’s and went on to become the Hoops’ all-time top scorer. They play in green and white and named a Celtic XI as their opponents for a match to celebrate their 100th anniversary which took place in front of a sold-out crowd in Garngad in Glasgow’s east end.

Roch’s currently play in the West of Scotland Division 1, the seventh tier on the pyramid, and took on a Celtic team featuring a number of familiar faces – with Scott Fox, Yogi Hughes, Neil Lennon and Scott McDonald among the stars of old who took to the pitch.

The Celtic team were led out by Lisbon Lion John Clark but lost out 2-0 to the younger guns in the Roch’s side. It was Rodgers’ appearance that really made their day though as he sat in the dugout for the second half and presented Roch’s with the trophy at full-time.

The moment after the full-time whistle was shared by Celtic TV commentator Callum McFadden on Twitter. And you can watch it in the player above.
