Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Canadian striker Jonathan David.
The 23-year-old has been a key player for French club Lille and he has been a reliable goalscorer for them.
So far the striker has four goals and an assist in 12 games across all competitions this season and he scored 26 goals across all competitions last season.
Tottenham have made an impressive start to the season and signing someone like David in January could help them improve further.
A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham have a ‘firm intention’ of signing the striker during the winter transfer window and they could wait until the summer transfer window if the move does not materialise in January. The striker is reportedly valued at €40 million and Tottenham certainly have the finances to get the deal.
The report further states that the striker ‘fits perfectly’ into Ange Postecoglou’s style of play and he could be an instant hit at the north London club.
Tottenham are yet to bring in a quality replacement for Harry Kane and David could be his ideal successor. The 23-year-old is likely to be tempted to join the Premier League and the opportunity to play for Tottenham will be an exciting option for him.
Tottenham are currently on top of the Premier League table and they will look to compete for the league title. Signing the right players in January could give them a huge boost and help them compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
