Update;Scott Mcdonald profers digging from transfer market put a star under pressure

Scott McDonald wants Celtic to bring in another forward during the January transfer window.

Everyone at Celtic loves star man and goalscorer, Kyogo Furuhashi. There is no-one better at the club to lead the line.

The 28-year-old is proving time and time again that nobody touches him, with six goals against Rangers, including the winner at Ibrox recently.

But McDonald feels that Kyogo Furuhashi needs to be put ‘under pressure’ and the only way to do that is to dip into the transfer market and bring in another striker, as he told PLZ Soccer.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have made a brilliant start to the new season and it will be interesting to see how the club tackles matters during the winter transfer window.

There is every chance that, by the time the window is open, the lead at the top of the table is double figures, which means less panic when trying to do business

Celtic January transfer window

“What I would say is that he probably needs some more support,” said McDonald. “I think it’s somewhere Celtic could look at in the window, come January, to bring in another striker in to help him by supporting him with the goals.

“But also put him under a bit more pressure as well, to get a little bit more out of him.”

Should Celtic bring in another forward to challenge Kyogo?

On one hand, don’t fix something that isn’t broken, but on the other, the best managers and teams are pro-active.

One thing is for sure, if the money is there to bring another forward, then the club should go for it because it means that they are pro-active and keeping things refreshed.

But if it means having to use money that could be utilised in areas of the pitch that need more care, then Celtic don’t need to go down that road.

Either way, you can bet your bottom dollar that Kyogo will finish top goalscorer by the time the season is out, including a few more goals against Rangers.
