Brisbane Powerful Front Rower Says Strong Start Is Key For Us…
Powerful front rower Payne Haas says the Broncos must get away to a fast start to lay the foundation for a Preliminary Final victory on Saturday night.
Brisbane’s forward pack burst out of the blocks against the Storm in the opening week of the Finals to set the tone for a 26-0 shutout that propelled the Broncos into a home Grand Final Qualifier against the Warriors.
Haas said the freshened Broncos would be looking to deliver another dose of that early focus and aggression in front of a packed Suncorp Stadium.
“They’ve got some competitive forwards in their team, and they start well so we’ve got to start well too and match them and drag them into the deep waters,” said Haas.
“Addin Fonua-Blake has been one of the form props in the comp this year, but I love these kinds of challenges. It’ll be a challenge this Saturday but I’m up for it.
“It’s a big game this week … we’ll be taking it day by day this week and looking forward to it come Saturday.
“But we can’t rest on our past performances, it’s a new game, new week and the Warriors are going to be up for this, they’ll always play well. We’ve got to play our best footy or we’re not going to get the job done.”
Haas has solidified his name amongst the best forwards of 2023 with his impressive 98% tackle efficiency, 44 offloads and 1510 post-contact metres.
The Broncos play the Warriors in the Preliminary Final on Saturday night, 7:50pm at Suncorp Stadium.
