Just In Now BBC reporter confirms Nottingham Forest Star claims hopefully it makes difference this weekend

The latest Nottingham Forest news as the 2-1 defeat at the City Ground was one of just eight appearances the midfielder made for the club last season

Nottingham Forest midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has said that it was “mad” to play against Newcastle United just months after leaving the club.

Shelvey joined Forest from Newcastle last January, ending a seven-year stay at the club. His move to the City Ground didn’t go as many would have hoped, with the midfielder playing just eight times for the club before being frozen out.

One of those appearances came against Newcastle. Shelvey played 94 minutes of a 2-1 defeat at the City Ground. Emmanuel Dennis opened the scoring for Forest, but goals late in the first and second half from Alexander Isak saw Newcastle take all three points in dramatic fashion.

The Forest man has now opened up about what it was like to come up against the team he had spent so long playing for. He recalls a moment he had before the game even started,

Obviously, we didn’t get the result we had hoped for. Newcastle had such a fantastic season last year so I wasn’t over the moon with the result, but it was a nice experience and one that I don’t think will probably happen ever again.”

After being excluded from Forest’s Premier League squad, Shelvey joined Turkish side Caykur Rizespor on loan this summer. He has played four times for the club so far this season.
