Andy Walker shared that the 25-year-old hasn’t only impressed him, but also Aberdeen coach, Barry Robson – he was out on-loan at Pittodrie last season.
From Liam Scales’ ‘passing’ to his ‘composure’, there are many facets of his game that have gone up a level, according to Andy Walker, as he told Go Radio.
But this is a prime example of taking your chance when you are handed it because the Irishman has grabbed his and ran as far as he could.
If it wasn’t for injuries at the back at the start of the campaign, then Liam Scales could have found himself back on loan again, Andy Walker suggested that Aberdeen’s man in the dugout would have wanted him back.
“He is the man in possession of the jersey,” said Walker. “I remember doing some Aberdeen games towards the end of last season. I thought he was really good.
“But just in general, his defending, use of the ball, his passing, strength and composure. It impressed me. I know it impressed Barry Robson speaking to him after a couple of games. He has been great for him. I am sure he would have loved for him to go back there, but he is now in possession of the jersey.
“The fact that he gives you that natural balance on that left-hand side. I think it will work in his favour.”
You would think that a regular starting place is now his because his form doesn’t warrant him getting dropped.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is a certain starter, but there is a reason why Nat Phillips was brought in until January from Liverpool.
Surely Rodgers will also use his experience and qualities, either way, perhaps rotation is on the cards here, but it’s a headache worth having, that’s for sure.
