Turkish publication Haber7 have claimed that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk regrets blocking Victor Nelsson from leaving in the summer transfer window amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Nelsson was linked with a move to Spurs all through the summer transfer window (Takvim) but he stayed put at Galatasaray, with the North London club signing Micky van de Ven to strengthen their backline.
It was reported by Aksam at the start of this month that Tottenham continue to have their eye on the Dane, who is valued by the Istanbul club at €30m (£26m).
The 24-year-old admitted in an interview with Tipsbladet last week that he was keen to join Sevilla in the summer but Galatasaray blocked the transfer.
Haber7 have now shed more light on the matter, revealing that both Spurs and Sevilla had offered €20m (£17.3m) for Nelsson but were turned down by Galatasaray at the insistence of Buruk.
The report adds that the centre-back has refused to sign a new contract at RAMS Park and that Buruk has admitted to the people close to him that he has ‘great regrets’ about not allowing the player to leave.
Despite suggestions to the contrary from Turkish outlets, at no point in the summer did Tottenham seemingly make a serious attempt to sign Nelsson. The player himself only referenced Sevilla’s interest and made no mention of Spurs.
