Brendan Rodgers looks to be ramping up his January recruitment plans with the Hoops already holding a seven-point advantage over Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers. South Korean midfielder Jung has reportedly been monitored by Parkhead scouts after helping his side to K-League last season. He has played 18 times for Gwangju this term helping them mount a title tilt.

However, earlier this week boss Lee warned him against a move to Scotland – insisting he wasn’t ready for Celtic and pointed to the struggles of the likes Kwon Hyuk-Kyu in Glasgow’s east end. Ahead of the clash with Ulsan this weekend, the boss has taken a pot shot at the potential deal once again – declaring the 23-year-old will only end up back in Korea if he makes the move now.

He said: “It is still too early for Jeong Ho-yeon to go to Celtic. If you want to go, there is nothing you can do. But even if you go, you will come back.”

Elswhere, Celtic target Andriy Lunin left the door open for a Real Madrid exit as the goalkeeper admitted he wants to ramp up his game time. Record Sport understands the Ukraine international is being tracked by the Hoops’ scouting team are watching with the recruitment department analysing a number of options to challenge Joe Hart for the number one spot.

But Fichajes have claimed that a bumper fee may be needed to land the 24-year-old in January. The La Liga leaders reportedly want €15million (£13million) for the shot-stopper.

Real are reportedly reluctant to let the goalkeeper leave with No.1 Thibaut Courtois set to miss the majority of the 23/24 season through injury. They are said to hope Lunin stay in situ until the end of his contract which expires next summer and battle it out for a starting spot with Chelsea loanee Kepa.

Lunin has hinted he would be open to leaving the Bernabeu if his game time is not increased, stating: “Real Madrid has been my dream since childhood, so I don’t want to leave. But you always want to play, you train to play, you want to experience the emotion of matches. We’ll see, right now I’m focused on training.”
